Sculptra is a sterile suspension of Poly-L-Lactic acid, which is a biocompatible (does not harm the body), synthetic polymer from the alpha-hydroxy acid family (fruit acids). Poly-L-Lactic acid has been used medically for many years in dissolvable stitches. Sculptra is designed to help correct skin depression, such as creases, wrinkles, folds, scars, hollow eye rings, skin aging, and facial lip-atrophy (loss of fat).
Fillers are injected into the deeper layers of skin tissue following the injection of a numbing agent. The area will appear red and in rare cases can appear slightly bruised. It can take 4-6 months for the results to become fully apparent, as the injection works to slowly boost your body’s collagen production.
Sculptra injects something called poly-L-lactic acid into your dermal layers. This substance works to kick-start your body’s natural collagen production mechanism. Since collagen is the protein that gives your skin its structure and shape, Sculptra injections fill out the area under your butt with a curved shape that looks natural and fits with your body type.
Sculptra will last about 24 months. During your consultation we can discuss the timeline for your next visit. We offer a complimentary consultation with the Doctor and/or Registered Nurse to discuss your desired shape and volume.
