Wrinkle Injections – What is it? How does it work?
Wrinkles injections work to help diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by weakening the muscles in the face. Typically used to help treat frown lines, crow’s feet, and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), however it has many many uses on different areas of the body. At AFYA Skin and Body Clinic we use BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport and Xeomin for our wrinkle injections.
This treatment has become more popular and many people have questions! We’ve got you covered. Below we answer 3 popular questions about wrinkle injections.
1. “Do wrinkle injections make me look frozen/will I be able to make facial expressions?”
At one point or another, we’ve all seen a television or movie character who has had too much Botox and can no longer move their face – in fact, sometimes it’s even a humorous plot point for a character!
Wrinkle injections are not designed to remove facial movement. They are designed to soften lines of excessive facial expression from squinting, frowning, and smiling.
2. “If I stop getting wrinkle injections, will I look worse?”
Absolutely not!! Getting wrinkle injections will not worsen wrinkle formation or skin texture, but instead wrinkles will slowly return to how they were initially, prior to the treatment.
3. “Wrinkle Injections are only used for cosmetic and aesthetic reasons”
The benefits of wrinkle injections go far beyond the aesthetic realm, and can treat several real-life medical issues faced by many. They can be used for excessive sweating in armpits/feet/hands, to treat migraines, as well as placed in your jaw to help with clenching.
