What Could Be Causing Your Quarantine Breakouts

As the COVID-19 lockdown continues, you may notice your skin go through some changes. While the time at home means more people are going make-up free or investing in skincare, your skin may still be struggling. If you’ve been having quarantine breakouts, here is what may be causing them.

Stress

These are stressful times for everyone. We’re in the midst of a global pandemic, isolated from friends and family with work and schooling disrupted. Even the most basic tasks like grocery shopping have become stressful. With everything going on it’s no surprise that you may be having an acne breakout due to stress. Try to make time to invest in self-care. Whether that’s skincare or reading a good book, find a way to bring some positivity and relaxation into your life!

Diet

Diet plays a huge role in our skin, especially when it comes to acne. If stress and boredom have driven you to snacking you’re not alone! While indulging in unhealthy snacks is perfectly fine, be sure that you’re not overdoing it. Try to keep your intake of fruits and veggies up, and remember to drink plenty of water!

Boredom

We all know we shouldn’t pick at zits when they pop up. During a normal day, it’s easy enough to ignore them. It’s a lot harder to resist touching or picking at our acne when we have nothing else going on. Resist the temptation and try to keep yourself entertained in other ways!

New Routine

The new normal for many people is not having as strict of a routine. That also applies to skincare. Try to remember to keep your skincare routine normal! Do it every day and night as often as possible. Acne breakouts may be caused by an inconsistent skincare routine or using too many new products.

Vitamin D

Staying inside is important these days, but the lack of vitamin D may be the source of your acne. While too much sunlight can damage skin, our skin does need it! Try to head outdoors for at least 15 minutes a day to soak up some vitamin D! Your skin will thank you. Just remember to social-distance while doing it!
